See you around

| Gishteq | 5 Comments

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have unfortunately been forced to close down business. Good ol' GishTeq, see you later. All of it against my will.

("...I am afraid to admit it, but it is true," he cautioned me from the distance which was not that far away at all I thought afterwards.)

Six months ago it all seemed so hopeful, but now it is time to face facts and do something else. Perhaps even something more worthwhile this time around?

Could very well be, very well be.

(...and then that guy turned around, looked at me carefully, and then he said with that familiar hint of enthusiasm gleaming from his eyes, "I can't wait.")

Time now for me to take a break and catch my breath again.

Better luck next time...

Well, I wish you the best of luck in your job hunt.
Over 400 applications is hard to imagine. I thought things were rough only here in the States.

Maybe you will find something enjoyable and lucrative soon. Oh, yeah, that book writing idea one guy mentions sounds good. At the least you could keep your website busy.

Bummer Kiffin - sorry to hear that. My "little business" (DoranMultimedia.com) is still around but it really hasn't cost me anything except for the domain and hosting. Hope things work out for you though!! And, happy Holidays to you and yours.

Hey Pat, I am still pretty impressed with your own family business at DoranMultimedia.com). Nice company web site, I have to admit! The big difference between you and me is that in America you still have the option of trying to startup your own business without risking your welfare, whereas here in The Netherlands that is not possible, i.e. your welfare is immediately stopped even when you give the slightest subtle hint that you might be interested in making something happen from your pits of unemployment.

But the welfare for me (unemployment insurance) ended after the first 6 months. It was helpful, but very short lived. I am still looking for a full time gig after 19 months. And I just realized that I am worth more dead than alive right now. Our Social Security department just sent me my yearly statement, and if I die now, my wife gets about $1300 per month and my youngest kid would get the same. Makes ya wonder ...

I guess it is simply a question of defining your priorities. But certainly you are worth much much more than a lousy couple thousand bucks a month, at least that is my opinion.
