And this is my son Lennart (19) and my niece Colette (3) at some beach in California enjoying each other's presence even if there is a slight age difference of more than fifteen years but that doesn't really matter.
Month: November 2006
For those of you out there trying to figure things out just let me say that while in the short term it may appear overly important in the long run it really doesn't matter that much at all.
In other words, use the present situation to leap frog over the near future and focus on where you want to be when you have grown more and more and supposedly have something to say about what life is all about.
So what's that thing called again? Oh yeah, it's a plunger. I've been living too long in Holland that my vocabulary has decreased substantially, yet another word once in awhile disappearing.
"Goede koffie is voor driekwart van de mannelijke beroepsbevolking een belangrijke arbeidsvoorwaarde op het werk..."
Makes alot of sense to me.
Right now my dear wife is flying somewhere high in the sky on her way to visiting my son Lennart who has been living in LA for the last several months, stopping over in the windy city of Chicago where she'll have to change planes. Indeed it is a strange idea that Thea and I will soon be separated by no less that seven thousand miles or so. One week and then she will be back, so I guess I will be able to survive just fine. With a little help of my kids, of course.
This is Benjy, the father of the Labrador puppy we will soon be adopting. Doesn't he look like a proud dog?
Through the eyes an' I sparkle, Senses growing keen
Taste your love along the way, See your feathers preen
Kind of makes makes me feel sometimes, Didn't have to grow
We are eagles of one nest, The nest is in our soul.
- Led Zeppelin, Physical Graffiti [Original recording remastered]
I talked with an old friend the other day. Having just turned fifty years old, he was slightly older in my eyes, hard to believe but true. Nothing much new as life continues as usual, so what else is there to talk about? Have a fun birthday and all of that kind of stuff. Oh yeah, and don't forget that life continues as usual. No matter what.
Don't you think that that guy behind the counter has a very curious tic? A sudden, spasmodic, painless, involuntary muscular contraction, as of the face. He looks at me and his left eye is twitching and winking in fast motion like a submachine gun. Wink, wink, wink, pause for several seconds and then wink, wink, and then wink again. Over and over again. Kind of like a never ending process. Can I help you, can I help you, help you, help you, you, you? What makes it even more curious is the fact that his neck is rotated ever so slightly to the side in an awkward position and backwards slightly as if it is almost on the verge of breaking or whatever. Can I help you?
They say that tomorrow morning the temperature will dip just under the freezing point for the first time since summer.
Not that I am looking forward to this memorable occasion, but it is time to get used to it.
Life continues.
The wind was blowing so hard that I could feel the car swaying back and forth as the various gusts shook me around inside of the car. A million leaves skimmed by the front of the windshield like a giant swarm of locusts darkening the morning sky.
